30/10/10

Had heaps of muddy fun yesterday. Took our bikes on a trail to Hidden Valley Campsite. Really pretty Gorge walking trail that heads to Alligator Gorge from Mambray creek. We did 14 km walking, riding and carrying bikes. Lots of flowing creek crossings,
native forest, big red cliffs, and roos.We new there was rain coming in but went anyway. The track was great on the way there but the trip back was boggy in sections. At one stage I put my Bike in the creek to wash the mud out from the brakes ect. It was fantastic riding back down a fast track that was more than ankle deep in flowing water. We were drenched and spraying water every where, laughing our heads off.
The high light of the trip for me was finding tiny little black Frogs the size of my little finger nail. They were so cute.
Started to get a bit cool by the time we reached camp so really enjoyed a hot feed and coffee.

Mambray Creek 29/10/10

Wow, every time I come to this place I love it more. Arrived at Mambray Creek yesterday after a good trip from Minlaton. Every thing is looking green, water is flowing in the creek and the songs from many frogs and birds fill the air. 27 deg C and humid last night. Enjoyable shower but Garry was unable to get TV signal. Planning on walking and riding bikes today along the trails.

26/10/10 1200

Day 1.
At last after years of talking about nothing else Garry and I have hit the road.
It's sad leaving family, friends and work behind but exciting to start living the dream.
We loaded the Navara and Van to bursting point and took off for our first destination.
Minlaton. Stopping here for a few days to spend time with the Kossatz family before heading north.
