Had heaps of muddy fun yesterday. Took our bikes on a trail to Hidden Valley Campsite. Really pretty Gorge walking trail that heads to Alligator Gorge from Mambray creek. We did 14 km walking, riding and carrying bikes. Lots of flowing creek crossings,
native forest, big red cliffs, and roos.We new there was rain coming in but went anyway. The track was great on the way there but the trip back was boggy in sections. At one stage I put my Bike in the creek to wash the mud out from the brakes ect. It was fantastic riding back down a fast track that was more than ankle deep in flowing water. We were drenched and spraying water every where, laughing our heads off.
The high light of the trip for me was finding tiny little black Frogs the size of my little finger nail. They were so cute.
Started to get a bit cool by the time we reached camp so really enjoyed a hot feed and coffee.
It's good you are enjoying your trip. Warren Gorge out from Quorn is a good free campsite, but not as good as Mudlapena Gap ($20) south of Angepena Station. From Copley to Balcanoona is scenic, but don't bother to go east from Balcanoona unless you want to see Sturt pea (about 5km out on the RH side, by the road and alongside the creek). It's freezing here - rain and hail tomorrow. Love, Brenny, Trev and Greg
