Had a great drive today through Barmah National Park. The worlds largest River Red Gum Forest and an internationally significant wetland that is included in the Ramsar Convention. The Murray was flowing well and had to turn back as some of the track is still closed due to flooding.
On the Nsw side of the Murray we found a distressed Sulphur Crested Cocky, tangled up in nylon thread. It's leg was wrapped up badly and a mess. Garry and I put a towel over it's head and cut away the cord. Once it was released from some sticks it was stuck in, it bit me and flew away, before I could get all the line from around its leg off. I hope it survives. I think it should be able to chew the rest of the line away.
We are staying in a little town called Mathoura in a free park at the back of the Club. Good base with flushing dunnies and showers. Pretty town with plenty to see in district. Tomorrow we are planning a the walks around the wetlands.
Tweety is very funny and bonding well with both of us.
